The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development together with its partners holds the Energy Week annually with the aim of sensitizing the public about the important role energy plays in bringing about socio-economic development. This annual event started in 2005.
Energy efficiency campaign and progressed to the Energy Week in 2012; with a focus on sustainable use of Energy and Energy access. It has since then become a popular event with over 100 key stakeholders participating.
The Energy Week involves a number of activities including Energy Exhibition, Workshops and symposiums, road shows and media campaigns aimed at sensitizing the public regarding efficient utilisation of energy and access to clean and modern forms of energy. During the week, key stakeholders (government agencies, private companies and civil society organisations) come together to discuss and exchange ideas on pertinent energy related issues.
The week also provides a good opportunity and platform for organisations and companies to network and actively engage the public. The week also fosters information sharing and exchange of ideas between participants and key stakeholders to build sustainable development in the energy sector.
